The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 890 times in 2013. If it were a cable car, it would take about 15 trips to carry that many people.

A thought struck me a few minutes ago — how much space are we allowed on these free WordPress blogs?  I’m in the middle of adding a bunch of old letters to this blog, and I’m thinking at some point, WordPress is going to tell me “Enough!  Start a new blog!”  Then, what would I do?  I imagine I can copy an entry from this blog to the new blog every time I need to add another old letter here.  That will be a project in itself….

This movie reminded me of Side Effects, another psychological thriller where the audience is always guessing which is and isn’t reality.  The violence sometimes seemed a little excessive, but I suppose it fit the story.  As in Side Effects, the therapist was very sexy.  However in this movie, the therapist was also naked several times (bonus!).  Rosario Dawson was very pleasant to look at.  I was entranced.  And just so the women in the audience wouldn’t be left out, the two leading men (James McAvoy and Vincent Cassel) got naked, too.  The movie poster does a good job expressing the story in the film — choppy, only showing bits and pieces of the whole in flashbacks of real and false memories.  If you like solving puzzles and can stomach sometimes-gory violence, you might find this movie very entertaining.  I did.

This isn’t about work, but about dreams about work.  Last night’s dream theme was work.  In one dream, I walked around the cubes where I work.  In another dream, I discuss the rules for creating a message, such as those used in telecommunications (part of my job at Sprint).  And in another, I showed someone a video I’d been editing (part of my current job).  I don’t recall how many dreams I had last night, but every time I woke up, I just remembered I’d been dreaming about work, and went back to sleep.

On something totally unrelated — I have a weird cat.  My daughter left out one of those pony tail rubber band thingies resembling a bungee cord, and the cat found it.  He’s been playing with it like a toy, which isn’t unusual.  What’s weird is he keeps dropping the thing into his food bowl.  I have to remove it at least once a day.

And, it’s that time again.  Thunderstorms, and warm enough I pulled out one of my box fans and set it next to my comfy chair to keep from sweating while taking a nap this afternoon.  Then I didn’t take a nap….  Did chores around the apartment instead.  hail was in the forecast, so I moved my car to the parking garage at work (one advantage of only being a block away).  Glad I did, because it’s hailing now.

I didn’t write about this dream in my other posts, because I don’t really remember much about it, but for one scene:  in it, I am trying to solve a puzzle, presented in three pieces (or clues).  The first piece shows jumbled dishes and silverware being neatly organized.  I don’t clearly remember the second piece.  The third piece was a satellite photograph I recognized as New York City.  I never figured out the puzzle.

What I find interesting about this dream, is after seeing a satellite photo of NYC in the dream, I saw a satellite photo of NYC posted on Facebook by Colonel Chris Hadfield, which he’d taken earlier in the day.  Coincidences like that (and I’ve had a few) always leave me wondering if they are coincidences at all, like maybe our brains just might be able to tap into something giving us little glimpses into the future or someone else’s mind.
